Far and away agreed. It often feels like old io9's soul got splintered when Gizmodo bought it - part of its identity sectioned off to Paleofuture and Gizmodo proper and some of the other former-Gawker sub-blogs.

I’d recommend Tor.com for a place that has that has insightful articles, posts from authors, and thoughtful commentary about nerd things.

For someone as thin-skinned as Spanfeller is, that could very well take off a foot.
