Well, there are a number of people saying they see the comic differently as adults - either identifying more with Calvin's parents, or finding more sadness in it. I don't really see it any differently than I did twenty years ago, though.

I don't respond any differently to Calvin & Hobbes now than I did twenty years ago. I still identify with Calvin (and sometimes Hobbes) more than with his parents. Does that mean I've successfully avoided growing up? Hurray!

Now I wish I'd thought to do that.

Is it not possible to 'unlike' something? If so, that's rather silly. (I'm not on the Book of Faces).

Yeah, "The Long and Winding Road" actually turns out to be a nice song when you de-Spectorize it.

That's not particularly my experience. The Beatles are my favorite popular musicians, and I'd say I listen to them (vs. other bands/composers) roughly proportionately.

Hear, hear. I'm somewhat scandalized to learn that so many people don't listen to an album in its entirety.

Agreed. I generally don't like Phil Spector's production on Let It Be, but the album version of that song is definitely my preferred version purely for the guitar solo. One of my favourite guitar solos ever, actually.

And for Beethoven's 9th symphony, just skip right to the last movement for 'Ode to Joy'. Hey, it's even got little recaps of the previous movements, so you're not missing anything, right!? I mean, just think of all the tweets you could be twittering in those 74 minutes…

I agree - the sprawling, rambling nature of the White Album is precisely what makes it great.

I agree about "Apple Jam"; it's like an optional bonus disc for All Things Must Pass.

I too like the parallel minor/major juxtaposition, which is actually fairly rare in the Beatles' works. (John did relative minor/major stuff all the time, but not often parallel).

Come now, surely "All Together Now" is worse than "Ain't She Sweet".

By Jove, you're right! They were rather good!

It's got neat chord progressions, too.

Read them the books first!

Fellowship was a decent, if flawed, adaptation, but things fell apart pretty quickly after that.

Ridiculous - Dr. Mabuse der Spieler is more than 4.5 hours long. All right, I guess you could make a case that that's two movies.

All true, except that there is also a sketch of a scherzo for the Unfinished Symphony - so it's not entirely performable 'as is'.

He did intend at one point to turn the unfinished Dirk Gently book The Salmon of Doubt into a sixth Hitchhiker book.
