Shocking that a Ted Cruz supporter would compare him to somebody who was terrible to minorities, killed indiscriminately, and ignored the Supreme Court when it suited him.

No doubt Ted Cruz is totally only hiring the most qualified people for the job...

Career. Over.

You’re right, SM-3 works in midcourse.

Great comment, and enlightening. Thanks for posting!

Well, they thought it would be a decent, all-around fighter like the F-15, when it was really just a big, fast, point-to-point interceptor like the F-106.

Though, to your point about the “10 minutes”, that’s the difference between a solid fuel rocket and liquid fuel. With solid fuel, you’ve got almost no warning beyond intelligence. With liquid fuel, and the technology they’re using, you’ve got more than enough time to wreck their little demonstration.

I dunno how accurate this article is, but if it’s even close, 1000 rockets doesn’t seem impossible, though 1000 scuds probably is.

True. Though Russia isn’t being able to afford as many advanced fighters as they’d thought, either. And the US can account for that with 4th or 4.5th gen fighters.

Think they got ahold of a MiG-25 when one defected from the PVO to Japan in the 70s? And they got access to more after the Camp David Accords.

Well, Scuds are still ballistic missiles, just short range.

It took days to set up the launch on the stationary launch pad, it took hours to fuel, during which time it could have easily been destroyed. Even after launch, if the US were actually sufficiently worried, an SM-3 fired from a nearby AEGIS ship would have destroyed the rocket in boost phase.

Oddly, you seem to be both arguing that North Korea is irrational (which I disagree with) AND rational (which I agree with) in the same breath.

Would have to disagree that Iran would already have a nuclear weapon now “if they wanted them”. Most foreign experts believe Iran WAS actively working toward a nuclear weapon, and may still be, despite setbacks thanks to the Israelis and US. And if smart people in the national security establishment of the US, who are

No, I just don’t have time for morons in tinfoil hats who can’t even get real news.

I was just going to point out that, really, the DPRK’s rocket tests don’t particularly scare me because they’re still embarrassingly using liquid-fueled rockets.

The Clinton deal also included the promise to build two light water reactors for the north, which Bush then canceled. While I think the DPRK are a bunch of little dipshits, it’s hard to blame them for breaking the nuclear deal when the US broke it first.

Pretty good in Collateral, Taps, etc.

Yep, you’re a Russian propagandist. Nobody here will take you seriously anymore.

Frigging men.
