“If you have even just 2 kids, a Prius isn’t likely a great fit for you as a primary vehicle.”
Evidently (according to Matt Farah) the front lip on those would shake violently when goin over 150/160. He did a car rally in one with Rob Spaghetti and they ended up removing it.
That’s wild, especially since the sub-$20k price was such a huge talking point when the Maverick dropped. Nothing will ever be affordable ever again.
Easy. It’s been vapourware for 3 years.
Well that spun out of control.
Reading into it a bit more, looks like the XT600's “YDIS” twin carb has a very interesting combination of BOTH a “direct control” throttle-slide carb side by side with a vacuum controlled (CV) carb. The idea is to get the best of both worlds of the immediate response and hard hit of direct control with the fuel…
Thanks! It’s an interesting setup, for sure, with the carb. I promise to ride as much as possible to run gasoline through the fuel system. For the benefit of the bike, of course. Not because I can’t ride it without immediately feeling giddy.
Yeah I guess the way to think of it is a 4 valve big single with a pair of carbs is like having a 2 valve parallel twin with a pair of carbs: in both cases each carb feeds one intake valve. A way to get a straight path of as much air as possible into the engine.
As far as fiddling with a a pair of carbs, my world has…
The correct number of bikes to own is N+1 where N is the number of bikes you currently own.
I’m currently trying to convince myself to buy an exceptionally nice H-D XR1200 that I don’t need.
Honda had the same setup on their 4 valve XR/XL600s, I guess it was common for the era. Me, I prefer the simplicity of my DR540's single carb. I consider that one of the benefits of a single cylinder bike: minimize complexity, minimize weight.
Depends on the car. I have taken the BMW factory tour in Munich - it’s astounding how few humans actually touch the cars. The paint shop in particular is a fascinating robotic ballet.
Can you imagine the Boomer factory original MOPAR types with something like your parts-bin special?
Couldn’t you say, vacuum operated *anything*?
Ford’s little differences used to crack me up, I got really good at telling them apart by sight: ‘92-93 identical, ‘94 has red wheel caps but black tailgate reflector, ‘95 went to black wheel caps and has the bottom door crease, ‘96 is missing the last piece of bodyside trim but all models had the vented front bumper…
IIRC, it was a one-year-only deal with the Ford F-150...1997, first year of that generation. I believe the location caused more problems than it solved so they reverted back for ‘98.
Obviously a completely different application, but my old Mustang has tucked tailpipes, and I’ve had an ongoing internal debate on whether or not I like them. On one hand, it’s super clean looking. On the other hand not having duel pipes sticking out the back kind of feels wrong, considering how nice/rumbly of an…
I found with Hondas at least that the OEM brakes are thicker than the aftermarket brake pads and thus last longer for me. Similar with other OEM parts. There are discount parts that last a year or so, better aftermarket parts (think NAPA), and then OEM which if it lasted 16 years the first time, I expect it’ll last…
A new Motorcraft starter, or a crappy rebuild from the cheapest parts store?
