I wouldn’t bet on it. The trailer made it look like the GT was Shelby’s project. In reailty, It was developed by Lola for Ford and initially raced (unsuccessfully,) by Holman-Moody. Ford later forced the project onto Shelby American (who didn’t want it,) in order to make the car faster and more reliable.
