Don’t shame women for survival work. Your comment only helps perpetuate the devaluing of sex workers. Women will rely on survival work as long as we suffer sexism, racism, colorism, transphobia. Fix that instead of calling sex workers “gross.” Come the fuck on.

My favorite train voice: in northern Italy, all of the announcements begin with, “Gentile Clienti,” translating basically to, “Dear/Kind customers.” It always makes me smile, even when it announces that you are under video surveillance and that the train assistants have US Marshal-like authority while the train is on

And then the entire South’s* heads will collectively explode when someone points out that they’ve been speaking in gender-neutral terms their entire lives by saying “y’all”

Tomorrow there will be a think piece on Fox News about the war on gender. I don’t work in news entertainment, I just know this will happen and they’ll use this benign change that doesn’t hurt anyone as an example because they need something new to be triggered by.

And we’ve always had laws against shooting people, yet that keeps happening.
Criminals don’t follow laws.
But you know who does? Law abiding citizens. Like the gun shop owners who sell the firearm. Gun control isn’t relying on controlling the criminal, it’s relying on controlling their access to the firearm.
If laws and

Could be neither his nor her though. “They” covers all options.

See, I initially thought “his/her last day” worked best too, but it kind of implies that Twitter doesn’t know the identity of the employee in question.

My thoughts exactly! How exactly do you make that sentence work without a “they” in there? Maybe “said employee’s last day”? Still clunky as hell.

“this was done by a Twitter customer support employee who did this on the employee’s last day.”

I’m not a particularly religious person, but this employee was doing the lord’s work, 11 minutes at a time.

Quit twitter about a month ago. This is the only time I’ve regretted it. Pouring one out for Human Error tonight.

If this is real, it’s footage from the most oddly-placed security camera in history. Who puts a security camera at eye level several inches out from a corridor wall?

I’d also like to say thanks to all the survivors who are speaking up in this thread. It’s really important for people to hear your voices and your stories. You’re incredibly brave to do so....I know it’s not easy.

Chris Colfer became a best selling YA fiction author.

My first thought when I heard about the shooting was “country music festival...there must have been more than one good guy with a gun there to protect himself.”

I agree with everything you said except for this:

You can either call for a truce or you can try to get people to admit they are wrong.

Guys... you’re doing this all wrong. You’re trying to talk sense to people who will never change. The way to get gun control is to fully support black and brown people getting seriously armed and to start demonstrating our open carry rights in beautiful parades in white neighborhoods. Watch them bust their blood

Things are bad. And I seriously think the only way to get out of this is for all the leftist factions to unite in a cohesive alliance with the singular goal of overthrowing the Republicans. After all, the Republicans have two factions: moderates and extremists.

I use a mask like that because it makes my face look great, but I only do it in the privacy of my own home, and still the first time my husband saw it, he was half asleep and said, “Are you wearing blackface?!”
