Guinness is as I am sure others have already mentioned, but I would still say Sam Adams (Boston Beer Co) dropping is still a pretty big deal. That brand has become inextricably tied with that city's identity, just like the St. Patrick's Day parade, and when they make a decision like this lots of people listen -

Except according to the OP they are Calvinists (I dont know if thats true yet). That would mean that your salvation was already decided - and future sickness or even outright depravity would have zero effect on said outcome.

Also - it wasnt so much that they believe that those people shouldnt be mourned or wouldnt be

I am very interested to learn what happened with regard to his excommunication. Unfortunately, the vociferous assholes at WBC only want to tell us what we dont want to hear.

You seem to contradict yourself at every turn - saying that giving them negative attention or any attention is somehow counterproductive - and then suggesting that people be angry with them.

Also, these people very much want your attention and your derision - and they would love for you to run afoul of their civil

I blame Ireland then. these beers that you speak of, are not readily available even in the finest beer shops - just like a great deal of American craft is probably hard to find at shops in Ireland - or outside the US for that matter.

I wonder if the blood and guts everywhere will be from his new teammates or his old ones.

I can get plenty of vodka soaked tampons with those.

Thats a really long-winded way of saying that you are wrong.

Its squares and rectangles here my friend. Drunk = Intoxicated, but intoxicated does not always = drunk. I have heard plenty of lawyers and LEOs use the term intoxication for any number of drugs other than alcohol.

Aspics can be delicious. The good versions are nothing like what the author describes - though even some of the really delicious ones can look a bit like some satanic fruit cake.

Also - you must not have had beef tongue prepared properly. It is usually braised or slow cooked and after it is pulled - most people would

I have had it once where it was actually moist and didnt suck the moisture out of mouth like sand. It tricked me into trying it at least 5 more times.

ha. YOUR comment thread. Sorry you took such great offense to your families subscription to woo.

Also less than scientific is not the same as NOT SCIENTIFIC, and dowsing goes into that latter basket.

You are right that was someone else.

Like everyone else has said though - dowsers have NEVER RELIABLY performed better than chance. So this phenomenon that you are so quick to believe in - HASNT EVEN BEEN PROVEN. It would be one thing if the phenomenon existed and we didnt have an explanation, but right now there isnt

I didnt say your grandmother was a bad person, but what she was doing could have easily cost people a good deal of money - even if they werent paying her. If she gave someone bad advice (and I am not saying she would do so maliciously mind you) they would be stuck with the cost of drilling or digging a bad well.

To be

And yet I have seen no credible evidence for dowsing - even though I have actually researched the subject pretty thoroughly.

Excuse me, you were the one accusing other of ignorance and cynicism, based entirely upon your own intuition and rampant speculation.

It is not a good look.

And yes, people like you do undermine the public understanding, because you give further credence to long discredited ideas. You are just introducing even more

For everyone who believes in this incredible woo - keep in mind that anyone with confirmed dowsing abilities could easily fatten their bank account by $1,000,000.

Here is a dowser trying his best to claim the prize:

Skepticism is NOT cynicism.

Finding underground water sources without extensive exploration (drilling/mining) would be a HIGHLY DESIRABLE tool for the whole of society, which is why it is important to take these incredible claims - and look at them skeptically. When you do that dowsing is literally baseless - and not

Superficial topography only gives you so much info about underlying strata. She could be in an area with MASSIVE aquifers and ground water sources - which could easily explain her "100% success rate."

If she isnt a geologist - it is a scam - even if she isnt cognizant of it.

Except that they are undermining peoples' understanding of science and in some cases bilking governments and other organizations out of quite a bit of money...

The general public's understanding of accepted science is already tenuous, no need to promote stuff that has been thoroughly debunked.
