I think that you are completely negating an obvious reason for an uptick in pre-orders... People order a lot more stuff online - and many would much prefer to avoid going to a product launch at a brick and mortar retailer (not that you could if you wanted to for the Fire).

I agree with you, but I ended up buying one anyway... I hate making a (usually overpriced) purchase like this without having read any reviews, but I have a lot of faith in Amazon - so I know Ill almost certainly keep the Fire - I just hope my case works out too...

WTF??? As much as people pay for their goddamned devices you think that they would catch more of this shit in TESTING. Before I get flamed - yes I realize that other companies also have problems XY and Z, but that doesnt mean that its a valid excuse for EITHER company.

Good argument!!!! Apple already does enough to nonsensically drain the battery in their OWN devices, why allow users to opt into something they may actually want that could do the same?

yeah!!!! Apple has never done ANYTHING that would worsen a user's experience... Just make sure you use their products the way they want you to and they work great!

Seeing as the Fire is a tablet - and the iPad is leader in the tablet market - most people EXPECT them to be compared.

One problem with saddling the last person in the metting with taking the minutes is that that person may actually be the last person that should be taking minutes. Punctuality doesnt necessarily connote productivity, but I imagine the two are tightly correlated...
