Yup. Mei is too good for Joel just like Midge was.

Her behavior was completely out of line with how they had set her up. I think the Palladinos have a specific plan for this show that fails to account for the unexpected but then they also shoehorn the actors they like the most implausibly. The audience doesn’t like Joel, the audience LOVED Zachary Levi, Lenny Bruce

I don't know. They tend to play her realization of things- like pot culture- for the audience. I feel like having her so quickly understand what he was talking about was asking us to suspend a bit too much disbelief.

I want a gif of SHUT THE FUCK UP from season 2

I get distracted through every chase movie where the people are wearing the same thing for like a week of gallivanting through all sorts of shit. Like. Ew.

I took that to mean that Rose felt like she could stop worrying about Midge once she was married again and go on with her own life.

You know it's bad when Sorkin is like YIKES

My entire post is basically, tl;dr, Hollywood lies to girls and women about nerds.

Alot of jocks are teachers and coaches. Some went into sports journalism that turned into advertising, some are PTs or ATs. Some are in the military. I feel like they actually turn into normal, well-adjusted guys.

Good lord is that the truth. I went to college next to a large engineering school. I had been told all my life that nerds were sensitive and misunderstood nice boys who would treat girls with respect by virtue of a self-awareness born from underdogdom. Hooooolyyyy SHIT was that not the case. The worst one of the jocks

I thought they were going to have her end up trying to sabotage Susie. This show is so weird in sometimes not a great way.

There’s a line forming over here to help Benjamin mend his broken heart and I’m only second in it bc my secretary is better with a switchblade.

The theater goons are my favorite.

Wen they play her with nuance- like showing in the first season that she does the same nightly routine as Midge- she’s a sympathetic character- the patriarchy gets all of us and our mothers are victims and perpetrators of it, which is a really important concept.

My whole office is female, lawyers with anywhere from 10-40 years of experience, grizzled secretaries, young interns, we're all unmarried. To a woman, all of us are like WHERE IS THE REAL LIFE BENJAMIN. Bc not one of us would be single if we had ever met a guy like him. And we're all hilariously salty about Midge

They were aggressively terrible, clueless and stupid this season for people who have been set up so far with far more nuance and intelligence.

But then they didn’t carry it over to the next scene with Midge and Susie. It was like Midge's realization never happened. This season was so sloppy and uneven. It's like they shot everything haphazardly and slapped it together where it all fit, missing segues and connections.

Having finished the whole season, they really squandered Abe and Rose’s potential. Why introduce Rose’s family and have her stand up to them if she’s not going to spend the season fighting them for her right to be involved in the business. I’l kept waiting for Rose to have the realization that she should take legal
