I’m getting to the place where I’ll believe there’s a Star Wars movie actually happening the week after it’s released in theaters.
“But... but... every dollar we give to writers is one less dollar we can use on sex workers and blow for ourselves!”
So why all the moves? Two words: writers strike.
You could also just like, pay your writers and give them fair deals? But I guess delaying all your massive movies makes sense, too.
It’s really hard to be a GOP Congressperson these days. On the one hand, you need those shadowy agencies to wield as much power as possible for you to benefit from. On the other hand, you have to support the “GOVERNMENT HAS BEEN WEAPONIZED AGAINST ME!!!” bullshit. It’s a real pickle.
As though a little thing like “laws” will stop them.
If you let the Letter agencies have as much as they want they’d crawl inside our asses and report out what I had for breakfast. Unchecked power is rarely relinquished readily, which is why such emergency powers should only be granted temporarily.
The first season was a very good season of sci-fi television, but a terrible adaptation of the source material. But a faithful adaptation of the source material would have made for terrible television, so that’s probably for the best.
This version of this article is massively downplaying the international success of the show. It is Amazon’s second most watched show ever internationally and is doing big numbers in India. International viewership likely matters more to Amazon in terms of subscribers because US subscribers will keep prime for grocery…
I can assure you as a male that the “sexy” stuff in this show bears no resemblance to my wet dreams. It is profoundly unpleasant to watch. In fact, if someone chose to produce a version of this show edited for network TV, I might be more willing to keep watching.
Percentages can only truly be good or bad if we know what 37% of the initial viewers was. If the claims are true that over 100 million people started the show then 37 million finishing it isn’t the worst streaming number in the world especially for a fairly niche, genre show. Until/unless streaming shows start giving…
The failed comedian to Trump supporter pipeline is still going strong, I guess.
The Office and Parks and Recreation both kinda sucked in their first season compared to where they ended up.
This episode was super gross. Really feels like it’s just trying to present a story about a pathetic crazy lazy who is saved by a cool sexy vampire while doing just enough to have plausible deniability like “no it’s satire it’s about the industry and The Weeknd’s character is bad actually” if called on it. The sexual…
I’d say there are 25 shows I start for every one I finish EASILY. I think participation on forums like this skews towards complete-ists as well. I’d honestly be shocked if the overall average of people watching stuff start to finish is over 50% in 2023.
Some of those vibes ape and echo and refract music-video aesthetics. And others merely ape (and echo and refract and maybe merely reproduce?) the aesthetic of porn. And other, in true Idol way, do both at the same time. Indeed, there are some scenes here that all but demand we come up with a portmanteau that better…
1. “This desire to paint the show as anything less than a success—it’s not reflective of any conversation I’m having internally”. This is an incredible statement. I wish I was graded on how my coworkers feel about the product, rather than whether customers are buying it.
I could respect a studio exec talking up a series’ long-term prospects and saying they have faith that the audience will come to it with a bit more time. But when a series doesn’t even make the ratings charts, it’s just delusional to use words like ‘victory’ and ‘success’, and frankly I do not believe a Head of Drama…
