If you want to drive tons of miles and only lose $10K, you better set your budget at $20K. Maybe an MKZ, they have shitty resale value already, but by most accounts are good highway cruisers. Hybrid option.

Evidently marriage is good for you.

I have been kicking around the idea of swapping our MDX for a 4Runner. Don’t need the third row any more, and reputation for quality etc. Love my Tacoma with the 4.0 even if it is a bit antiquated. Newer 4Rs finally have CarPlay, so I thought maybe old school everything else is good enough. I will never do real

I saw that in Dallas area too. I wasn’t really shopping for TLX, we found and got the RDX we wanted (at a pretty good deal, I thought), but that market adjustment surprised me.  Bad behavior from a brand new dealer.

I have heard that successful marriage is strongly correlated with wealth. We’re only halfway to 40 years, and I don’t know if we’ll be celebrating with two Rollers... But hey, good for Gigi and Glenn!

Sounds like everyone has spent all their stimulus money.

2nd: Boooooo. I have been getting lots of mail asking to buy back our MDX. Maybe I’ll let them make me an offer to trade up a little early for the new one. But I was also thinking about that Volvo subscription program next. Maybe Audi, not sure yet, but I was planning to try several on for size. Might just have to buy

Even the stupid parts (infotainment) still work.

Sliding doors with baby carriers. It’s such a no-brainer. My wife was too cool for school, so we went CUV after our Sedona lease was up, and the kids could all buckle themselves. Now, a little surprise is on the way... not looking forward to backing the car all the way out of the garage just to put the baby in.

Word. These define “non-essential”.  This isn’t gouging on plywood before a hurricane.  Can’t afford the toy yet?  Don’t buy the toy yet!

“drive a lot for work” could mean just a long commute. But I agree.

According to the youtube reviewers, this thing should be selling much more strongly than it is.

I’ll be that guy. This IS cool, if you can get over yourself. I mean come on, that interior is so baller. WAY more spacious than any Range Rover or Escalade. It has all the safety stuff and tech nerd gadgets. Butt coolers even. Why do rich people insist on having less room for more money?

Plus you can do other stuff with your cash. A cheap loan that is not underwater and is offset by a well-performing brokerage account, not the worst thing in the world.  I know it’s not the Dave Ramsey way of life, but it’s fine IMO.

1st: The example given, of the late middle-aged gentleman dumping his problematic old Odyssey for a nice used RX350 only after he confirmed his retirement plan was holding up and apparently had some savings to make a down payment... Not really a bad scenario, right? I’m trying to find fault with him. If the loan was

Agreed. I knew the ‘16 was around the corner when I bought mine, and I knew I wanted the 4.0 at least until the 3.5 had proven itself. Nobody seems to love it. I keep telling myself, don’t get stupid and trade “up” - just get Katzkins and a new head unit with CarPlay, and be good for another decade at least.

It’s a funny joke, but it’s actually going to save a lot more fuel than you would by pushing some plebe’s Corolla from 30 to 35...

Yup. Now make us telecommuters and we care even less. Not only are we buying less fuel, we are buying less dry cleaning, lunches in restaurants, etc. As one of the lucky ones whose office is closed for good, I’d really like to see those Land Cruiser and GX prices soften up a bit due to high gas prices... All due

Had a 2016 Sedona which I always felt was very underrated. Better looking, better tech, nice powertrain. Only 18 mpg +/- in town, 24ish highway. New Carnival looks sweet (for a minivan). But with gas prices rising, the hybrid Sienna is intriguing. It’s not everything with the kind of mileage we’ll do, but it’s a

Same. Paid off 2015 Tacoma. Working from home, don’t really need the extra vehicle. Feel like I could park at Home Depot and have it sold in 15 minutes. Awfully tempted to cash out now and try the single car family thing for a year or two while prices calm down.
