“Over the track intercom, it was reported that photographers near the scene were helping pick carbon fiber out of the fence.”
During the broadcast, I also heard that the shape of the track makes it almost impossible for spotters to really do their jobs when the cars are approaching turn 2. They’re just way too far away to make an accurate judgement, at that point.
I just read your other comment on this story. That (Pocono being wide, flat, and cars not scrubbing speed as they climb the bank) make a lot of sense. I can see why you’d want to modify the track or remove it from the schedule until it is.
What I heard about Pocono was that because of the layout you get higher speeds into the corners because of the layout. And the corners are a lot flatter which develop more sideload versus a more banked over which gives you more grip. The width of the track give you the impression that you have more room to maneuver…
Sure, but that would be an argument against big ovals as a whole, not this track specifically, hence why I’m stressing that word so much, and that’s what I’m confused about. If this were an article about using a crash barrier instead of a catch fence like another commenter said, I’d understand. If it were condemning…
Pocono is very flat and wide. So when cars are sliding around, they’re not scrubbing speed as they go up the banking like they do in a steeply-banked track like Indy. I also wonder if Pocono needs to look at the angle and height of their walls. They have to do something to keep the cars out of the fence.
There needs to be an investigation into why the cars are getting up into the catch fence and why the cars are bouncing completely across the track into the traffic. The track is almost double the width of IMS but I don’t recall recently seeing three cars crash on the inner wall at IMS and then end up touching the…
Serious question: what is it about Pocono, the track itself, that makes it inherently more dangerous than any other track?
You’re kidding, right?
That grille is too reminiscent of those shitty Jeep crybaby grilles to get a NP from me for $195.00.
The signals work fine, it’s the damn switch. I’ve started paying more attention and now am incredibly self conscious because I think I’ve been doing a lot of lane changes without signaling or not signaling long enough. Their implementation of the 3-blink/full time selector is hot garbage. I think the newer models have…
Or you know. grab a Toyota/Lexus adapter (22 pin to 16 pin) for the OBD1 scanner for $10 on top of the $20 scanner.
Dude an OBD2 dongle and app is like 20 bucks. Probably wasted more on autozone trips in gas at this point.
Gotta love that “wow you hate tesla? You must drive pickup truck”, classic tesla bible quote.
Hey guys I found Elon.
They are still garbage as actual cars, no matter how fast or efficient they are. Cars are neither fast nor efficient when broken. My favorite failure of my buddy’s now three Teslas is refusing to let go of the charge cable! I’d put that right up there with an Alfa not starting, except neither of my Alfas ever didn’t…
I hate all things Tesla.
I am curious about this language “American.”
OMG. The first Mortal Kombat hit all the right notes, tight story, not taking itself to seriously, Christopher Lambert just chewing up the lines, and fucking great techno music. And although it was “dark” it actually had a great positive feeling around it.
The second one was crap.
Here is hoping that they understand…
