Thank you for a wonderful memory. My Mom made garlic bread like that too. She used to put it under the broiler, it was crisp and soft at the same time. It sopped up the tomato sauce and stayed crunchy. I’ll be that sandwich tastes like a hug feels.

Line a loaf pan with plastic wrap. Whip a pint of whipping cream into stiff peaks. Fold in 1 jar lemon curd. It’s ok if the curd isn’t completely mixed in. Pour into loaf pan, cover with plastic wrap and freeze. Un mold, slice and serve with fresh berries.

There’s a Korean dog place near me. They have lots of coating options: ramen, potato, cornflakes, and a flaming option (it’s rolled in flamin’ cheeto crumbs). Since corn dogs are are on my “desert island” food list, I gave it a try and ordered the basic dog $5.25. They make them to order, so it’s a 10 minute wait. The

“The important thing is the rhythm. Always have rhythm in your shaking. Now a Manhattan you shake to fox-trot time, a Bronx to two-step time, a Dry Martini you always shake to waltz time.”

If you have one of those high powered blenders, maybe you could use the core to make Pineapple Gingerade

Could one transform it into a semifreddo by pouring it into a plastic wrap lined loaf pan and freezing it? A slice of the frozen result with sliced peaches or strawberries would be a welcome respite on a summer’s day. Or use it as a filling for that DIY Sara Lee ice cream cake? The mind reels.

Maybe happiness should be changed to contentment. While most dictionaries and thesauri use happiness and contentment interchangeably, I think there is a subtle difference. I am content that I can pay my bills, have a roof over my head, fill my fridge. I don’t feel any pressure to conform to any other metric than

In my San Francisco neighborhood, there are 4 places for sandwiches, but I go to only 2. Here’s why:

As is often the case with food that is designed by committee, there is too much of a good thing in the first two on your list.I suspect the blandness is due to the fact that spice sensitivity is a real thing, I often have to carefully scan menus to avoid spice.

Gizmodo’s recent Star Wars list/AI kerfuffle is a scary indication of another job for the list. The story made the Washington Post this morning.
(I think there’s a mistake in the slide 9 headline. the year should be 1889?)

Soup. Served cold. Healthy and really delicious.

My Dad needs new glasses, his appointment at the VA is September. In the meantime, he went to Costco Optical and was told a purchase requires a membership card. My sister has a card, she will be visiting in July for his 96th birthday.

I think I’ve had breakfast at McD’s maybe a dozen times, (a bacon egg & cheese biscuit because the hard cooked yolk in the McMuffin is icky); I never saw a bagel anything.

Dissolvable food labels. Easier than cutting tape, bigger surface to write on, wash off in the sink or dishwasher.

There is a KFC/Taco Bell three minutes walk from my house. It does not show up in the search on the Taco Bell website. It does show up through KFC’s site, but I can’t select it for pickup or delivery. Who are those guys?

There was a restaurant in town that used to make them. I think the owner retired, sold the place. New owner mucked it all up by screwing with perfection.

Where have I seen this before? Oh yeah, September 2020 in San Francisco. This was at 9:30am.

Your personal ice bucket is a tad impractical. A collapsible pouch like this perhaps:

I started buying chickpea flour for socca pancakes. This will be nice for a quick topping for fish.

I totally get it and would never have put those things together. Like piccata, with pickles instead of capers. It’s another pantry friendly idea to keep in my recipe arsenal. Maybe serve it with shrimp, which I always have in the freezer, for some protein.
