There may or may not be liens, but regardless, I would think there would be an order barring any dissipation of assets.  Or at least that’s what I would be seeking.

I’m not outraged about the penalty because I’m outraged at the time sentenced. The offender’s prison time should be 23 years, but that’s just my opinion.

The only consolation is that with Federal Sentencing, you have to do 85% of your time.

Nah - the civil case will take it. You can bet lawyers are lining up. it could end up in his and his family’s hands- wouldn’t want to give them a pile of ashes.

Regardless of whether there will be a civil trial, shouldn’t the criminal penalty be *more* than the person would have paid to hire a person the right way, rather than less?

I understand your point, but that coffee burned her so severely she had to get a huge amount of skin grafts as the heat fused her skin together and required surgical separation. Mr. Smith was enslaved for 17 years. The story and headline have inaccuracies.

Might want to look into that lawsuit. It was more horrific than Mcdonalds legal team said, and unfortunately, they were able to use their money and power to make people believe if was a frivolous lawsuit.

You only sentenced this piece of shit to 1 year for every 2.3 years Mr. Smith was enslaved. The POS earned a helluva lot more than the tickle of 10 years you gave him.

He tortured this poor man physically, kept him from his family, worked him damn near to death, placed him in horrendous living conditions and didn’t pay him for 17 fucking years and ALL he was sentenced was 10 years???!!! This bastard should be serving no LESS than a 35 year sentence for his crimes.

Hollywood will make a movie about this where Smith forgives (and hugs) enslaver edwards and goes back to work at the restaurant so he can put his entire paycheck into edwards prison commissary account. It will win motion picture of the year at the academy awards.
