Please correct if this is wrong but I believe that you cannot use Uber if you set its location services to “never” as it will not be able to pick up your location for pickup when you open it.

I have one request that I feel is incredibly reasonable. Allow an app or the OS to only physically or audibly notify you once until you check it. The ubiquity of iMessage (and its inclusion in Messages on OS X) make iMessage/SMS more like instant message where people will send multiple messages in short periods of

It doesn’t matter whether you’re looking low end or high end, Seiko delivers the best bang for the buck. Search Google for some extreme macro shots of Grand Seikos v. Rolexes to see for yourself.

I work on an app called Splitwise (http://splitwise.com) that helps people monitor and split expenses. I use it myself and have groups for friends, my girlfriend and my apartment, and work. It sounds strange but having an app keep track of and monitor this stuff makes it a lot easier to talk about. This won’t help

I stayed in hostels in Tokyo and Kyoto and they were amazing. Clean and cheap but I did research them online before I left and booked in advance. I think I was able to reserve my rooms with a credit card so checking out was easy.

But the 32-foot-long fake whale’s maiden voyage didn’t exactly go... swimmingly.

Corporate stock versus what else, an ETF?

Isn’t there a time period you have to hold a fund before you sell it in an investment account before it is taxed at capital gains instead of income or am I mistaken? Also what about dividends in any and all of those accounts?

One thing I’ve always wondered is what capability does a company have getting around HTTPS? For example if I log onto my personal Gmail account at work, can anything be intercepted assuming over WiFi or on the router? For the sake of the question assume there is no monitoring software on the actual computer.

I actually got a phishing email this past Friday. It looked off so I opened the link in an incognito window and confirmed for myself that it was just too poor looking to be legitimate. I notified the institution it came from and they confirmed that they had not sent anything out. It wasn’t horrible and I could see

In Japanese, Sunday is "日曜日" which is literally Sun Day. Monday is "月曜日" or Moon Day. The first kanji in each being Sun and Moon respectively. The rest of the days of the week are fire, water, wood, gold, and earth.

I've never had a landline of my own and will likely never have one. In recent years I've discovered two interesting social quirks about phone lines.

Unless you're never opening a can splurge for a > $5 can opener. The ease at which a $10 one works compared to a $2 is like day and night.

I intend to leave this money in the investment account for a long time _and_ reinvest the dividends. Will I essentially not have to think about it come tax time any year until I actually take money out?

In the article you say "... you're taxed on the money you save as regular income, and you're taxed again when you sell your investments and make a profit." I'm a little confused by this. I thought that interest on money saved in a savings account or CD is taxed as income on top of any money you earn at your job but

Don't discount online only banks. I've had nothing but great service from Ally.

This is true but it's important to note that they will reimburse you all the ATM fees all at once with your monthly statement so you will be missing the $2-5 here and there until the end of the month.

When signing my last employment agreement my lawyer told me that non-competes aren't too scary because they company can just sue you for violation, they have to prove specific loss/damages. Depending on your industry this can be very hard. How do you prove that Joe working for Company Y hurt his previous employer,
