True, Apple didn't take that approach years go. You used to be able to upgrade them like any other consumer computer, with the same parts as a Dell or HP. They are far more beautiful when you Crack the case open, though. I almost mounted my old G5 Xserve on the wall, splayed open.
After ten years, a used Mac is still useful. I've never had a Windows system last that long or end up as more than a paperweight. Sure they cost more, but you get what you pay for.

Companies also pass taxes on to employees, not just consumers. When taxes are increased, workforces get cut, production gets cut. Yeah, great public policy for dealing with complicated issues.
