Nope, this is with me at the dealership with them. As you see people’s eyes light up, realize that they “deserve” the better car, etc. I will be there the whole time.

Wow, okay. Let’s start at the beginning. The company has a vision, or goals, of “Zero Crashes, Zero Emissions, Zero Congestion”. Those are the GOALS. The PLAN, to achieve those GOALS, is to invest in electrification and automation.
Just like the vocal minority here whining about manual transmissions. Yes, Acura has discontinued the manual in their cars, and so has BMW in the 3 series. But there is nothing that they could have done to those cars to convince you to spend $32,000-$38,000 to buy one, even with a manual transmission, so if you were…
You and I are going to have to agree to disagree then. Because I’m the go-to car guy in my friend circle, in my family, etc. Obviously. I spend my free time commenting on car websites! And for the record, I work in a completely unrelated field, nowhere close to car sales. And I believe that my experience does scale…
Well, that’s the part of the problem. The Democrats didn’t do enough to convince people to get out and vote, so less than 2/3 of eligible voters went to the polls.
I see this a lot. The idea of putting the onus on the voter. For example, if I was making your assertion, I would have said, “if the Democrats had put up a candidate that would have carried these 2 states.” It isn’t my responsibility as a voter to vote in a candidate in which I don’t believe. It isn’t my…
You say that they make up for them in volume, but go look at sales numbers. Cruze sales are dropping, dropping, dropping. Here is a story from April. All brand buyers are trading in their cars for crossovers and SUV’s. If gas prices go up, then so what? Yeah, a Corolla gets better mileage than a RAV4. But at 15k miles…
Which GM has already committed to achieving, so thanks for playing.
The Cruze does sell REASONABLY well, but that’s why I talked about the Fusion. If you go look at the Chevrolet website, then Chevrolet themselves are offering $4,000 off of the Cruze. And that doesn’t include price cuts at the dealer level, so the dealer can reduce their margins as well by taking off another $400-$700…
I’m refuting the assertion of “zero crashes isn’t attainable, so don’t set it as a goal” flawed logic. Zero crashes is absolutely a goal that the automakers can work towards.
And you ignored half of what I said. It doesn’t matter how many they’re selling if they aren’t selling them at a profit. If Porsche dropped the price of the 911 to $13,000 new, then it would sell a million billion jillion fafillion each month. But this would be BAD for the company. Go look at the Fusion numbers. Even…
The plan is to focus on electrification and automation. I don’t understand how you can’t see that. It’s the direction that essentially the whole industry is moving towards. Even VW, the biggest proponents of diesel passenger cars, has abandoned diesel in favor of electrification.
Okay, but their goal sounds better than “feasibly what is attainable via current technology, trending towards a statistical reduction with a high confidence interval of reduction of crashes.” Zero crashes rolls off the tongue better.
Zero emissions through electrification, just like all of the other automakers are doing, and why a tiny company bleeding money like Tesla is more highly valued on the stock market than Ford, for example.
Go to goodcarbadcar, and look at sales numbers. It doesn’t matter how good the car is if they can’t get it sold, and for that matter, it has to be sold at profit. The Fusion sells a ton, but they have to put so much cash on the hood to sling that iron, which is why it’s being discontinued.
It’s more like, they learned from 2008, and instead of going full steam ahead off of the financial cliff when the next recession inevitably occurs, they want to be prepared for it. They’re batting down the hatches because they see a storm in the distance. Now, it could be further away than they think, or it could be…
You’re correct. I can’t write a sign, or make someone sign a contract, and make it immediately legal. I can’t sign a contract with someone that says, “I will loan you $5 and if you don’t pay me back, I will shoot you in the face” and have that be enforceable in court. It doesn’t release the shop from negligence.
That was Russian.
Kinetic recovery is just an argument to use batteries. You aren’t using regenerative braking to produce gasoline back into your fuel tank while the car’s on the road, haha. As far as thermal recovery, what do you mean? Do you just mean turbocharging, or are you proposing that there’s some way to capture the heat…
And it’s not an “at worst” situation. Thermal efficiency of the internal combustion engine in cars overall is currently significantly lower than the thermal efficiency of power plants. Now, are there exceptions to the rule? Sure, I could find some power plants in the US that are beaten by a base model econo-Toyota…
