I bought the "High Plains Drifter" blu ray a few months back and have watched it probably three times since. Each time I'm stunned at how horrifying it all gets (in every which way). Insane (& damn great).

Vaya con dios, Mr. Lewis.

In addition to being a (New Hollywood) Western, "High Plains Drifter" is a nasty horror movie. People have forgotten how notorious Clint Eastwood was back in the 60's & 70's. There was a true generational divide on the acceptance of those movies. "Magnum Force", a movie I quite like, is still one of the sickest, most

"Quantum of Solace" is a great action movie, but one that requires you see it at least twice to figure it all out. The action is a torrent of unhinged violence and comes at you with such a ferocity that it can be seen as a jumble the first time through. It is essentially a coda to "Casino Royale" and they really

Seconded!

I see Paul F. Tompkins "Dead Authors" show live almost every month at the UCBLA. His opening monologue is by far the funniest fifteen minutes in any format anywhere in any given month. A shame they don't include it on the podcast. Absolutely amazing month in and month out. Last monthly show September 2015!

Agreed.

I honestly don't know if this is a joke or not. It certainly wouldn't surprise me if it is real.

That movie was 99% awful. Richard Roundtree showed them all up as the "aging" John Shaft.

"If it's the ultimate game, how come they play it again next year?", Duane Thomas (the original Marshawn Lynch).

Tom Cruise is (at times) hilarious as Vincent. I would say it's his best performance. Gets better with each viewing.

I've heard "A Brief History of 7 Killings" compared favorably to James Ellroy's historical crime fiction. Apparently the author agrees that Ellroy was a big influence. Good enough for me!

"Kingpin" is a deranged masterpiece.

Saw the (real) Gang of Four in, I guess 1981, at the Atlanta Agoura Ballroom on Peachtree. Pre-record contract R.E.M. opened (who I'd not seen, but had heard of). Easily one of the greatest rock shows I've ever seen. The Gang of Four were incendiary live. R.E.M. was pretty damn good, too. I remember Michael Stipe

Michael Pena should be in everything. He is a remarkable (& very underrated) character actor with a murderer's row of a lotta great, nutty roles already.

THAT'S where I remember Riz Ahmed! "Four Lions". Every time he popped up in "Nightcrawler" I knew I knew him but with no idea where.

Are there Moloids pitching woo at "The Jen"? If so, I'm in.

If you have a taste for '80's horror you absolutely, no doubt about it, need to see "You're Next" first. Much like "The Guest" full of deadpan, mordant jokes and a bunch of surprises.

Waitaminute…is that the real poster for this movie? That's not some "Onion" mock up? Jesus Christ!

He looks (an old) 75 in the photos with this article in Wired.
