“He isn’t so reckless as to blame her outright for his death, but there’s a palpable change in tone when she enters the narrative. And while Argento is indeed a complicated person, the fact that she does not appear in the film to defend herself—nor do any of the other interviewees defend her—results in a biased

so woody allen is a demon and asia argento is a “complicated person”, that is disgusting

Really interesting lately seeing which people the AV Club condemns and which people it reserves the passive voice for.

The odd defense of Asia Argento in this article as a “complicated person” results in an indulgence of something, that’s for sure. Wtf.

Sounds about right. With the AV Club, I’m generally more satisfied when I don’t read it.

THIS^^ OG AVClub knew how to bring the snark but it wasn’t usually snark just for snark’s sake (which the OG Gawker was guilty of as often as not). Yes they had some arbitrarily hot takes now and then, and sometimes the writers wrote dumb shit and got called out for it. But generally speaking there was some truth (or

“I understand what Mr. Tarantino was trying to do,” followed by a paragraph demonstrating how exactly Shannon Lee doesn’t understand what he was trying to do.

He probably would have “stopped commenting” on Bruce Lee if Shannon hadn’t wildly overreacted to the OUATIH scene and created a controversy that he keeps getting asked about and forced to comment on.

The most ludicrous part is that QT is complaining about some of the AV Club’s own favorite punching bags: commercialization, people not taking COVID restrictions seriously, the loss of the communal experience of going to the movies, etc. But because he’s a white guy in his 50s all Barsanti can see is the opportunity

Right, what is the point of this post? Tarantino’s criticism boils down to corporatism has devalued the experience of sitting a packing theatre with strangers to watch a film and Sam is taking issue, with his usual smug superiority.

Barsanti accusing someone of dropping hot takes is peak AV Club.

Funnily enough when I saw Once Upon A Time In Hollywood at the Pasadena Arclight the lights came on about 2/3 a way through and stayed on until a few of us finally wandered out and found someone who worked there and was willing to help. And the parking validation stamp machine was busted and they just shrugged it off.

In this case he’s very nearly 100% right.

...and thus, the A/V club's "Hot takes on Quentin Tarantino" summer continued unabated by self-awareness.

I mean I went to an AMC to catch Godzilla vs. Kong after getting my shots, and... he’s not 100% wrong

Nope. They were old enough to know better.

And if it’s not obvious enough, Tyler is also someone who should not be saying anti-Asian racial slurs.

And yet, in the absence of this interview, the review for this show would include some snarky comment about how the rich kids need their privilege checked this time around.

This may be apropos of nothing, but Laserface1242 is a fucking idiot who never knows when to shut the fuck up. There, I’ve said my piece.
