The AWD system after the P2 platform doesn’t allow for a manual transmission *sadface*. If you want that color with a row-your-own, you’ve got to do what I did..
I’ve had exactly this happen to me every night I've driven my 2001 V70. I just assumed it was totally normal.
At risk of being smacked yet again with the Jalopnik Banhammer, it’s worth noting that the Johns Hopkins’ head psychiatrist echoed similary beliefs a few months ago:
Is that Doug in the background?
That's all true, but are the drivers any better? Safer roads and cars only means so much when you nearly double the contained kinetic energy (and therefore stopping distance and double possible turning radius) of every given car on the road.
“Apple makes it so people can’t fix their own stuff and I wrench on own car blah blah blah”
“People buy SUVs when gas is cheap because people are stupid.”
Most of the big, western players are pretty much off the table, but there’s a bunch of eastern conglomerates whom I’m sure would love to get their foot in export markets. I think Geely may not be a bad idea... Or maybe Yamaha or Fuji HI (Subaru) small enough players in the auto world to have their own developed…
How long before the FSF sets up an ECU-dev team to port the Hurd kernel to embedded processors? Your car will run in beta and stall at green lights, but you’ll be able to vary the voltage of the interior lighting to your heart’s content.
Per my permanently - greyed reply, the most direct connection between the DCMA and cars would likely be firmware/ECU piracy - loading the ECU firmware from an STI into a WRX’s ECU is likely ill-advised, but also undoubtedly doable by anyone who has even looked at a Gentoo install the wrong way. One could easily see…
Let me guess: you wrote this from you Amiga A4000, which you like because it’s more customizable - you have a Pentium-IV based Xeon running on the motherboard, with a custom chipset and Gentoo linux supporting a Windows NT OS.
Huh. I was totally distracted watching the tail lights climb higher and stretch forward each generation.
Only if they're very current models.
Re Second Gear: is that supposed to read that GM has pulled out of RUSSIA? Or is my mind still warped from waking up at 5:30?
Once upon a time, my mother took her beloved (now my beloved) '01 V70 in for a dealer check up and see why an O2 sensor code was being thrown. Turns out there was a "pinhole in the crank case" (yeah, what you been getting up to mom?). Which had caused there to be oil sprayed all over the turbo, ruining it. My mother…
Lewis can probably take a tip from Rhianna on that one...

J-J-Jimna!
Because everyone is volunteering dorky questions (literally), I'll pose a question a CEO of a more "conventional" car company may get asked:
