Schools get money by numbers of pupils. We're all on a shoestring to begin with. So it's not like we're greedy. Just needy. 

I wonder if they will go after parents legally for keeping kids home. Some places they sure do - people wind up buried in fines and fees for their kids missing school. 

Suspension is a way for administrators to get teachers off their ass about punishing troublesome students. 

There are absolutelygood ideas that we could try - staggered schedules, for one. But they would require both money and courageous leadership. So we're dead. 

Starting with the Bush administration and the No Child Left Behind act, they have been extending the school year and the school day in order to do something to look like they are doing something. It is actually counterproductive.

Well, Biden was the conservative white daddy figure That Obama needed to have as a VP in 2008. He was supposed to root Obama in the center-left. 

I want Joe Biden not to be president less than I want Donald Trump not to be president.

My favorite Ta Neheisi Coated quote is that race is the child of racism, not the parent. It was an excuse for genocide and slavery. 

I think he means whatever Kanye says. He’s not really a details guy. He has said that black unemployment is low. Which, yeah, overall it was low pre-pandemic, but it was still twice as high as white unemployment.  

My narcicisstic ex's only criteria for whether or not he liked a person was whether or not they seemed to like him. If someone kissed his ass, he would never say a word against them no matter how awful they were. Trump reminds me of him. 

I say it's worth watching to just enjoy the sheer lavishness of it all. Then I read up on all the symbolism. And now I'm watching it again. 

Come to think of it, I’m not sure I ever saw her stand-up, either. I was in college when she came out and watched her show because I didn't have cable.
