I think all YA is beneath college level. It’s designed to be. I mean, there is literary value in, for example, graphic novels, but I haven’t replaced all the literature in my curriculum with them, even though many students would enjoy that. I was responding to the idea that students would enjoy reading the YA books…

I am a high school teacher, and teen girls (and boys) don’t generally choose mind-expanding works of literature for their entertainment reading. Which is fine...for entertainment reading. A campus read would seem to have a different purpose.
