Well, that depends on which average premium european sedan you would consider. If it's the 2.0 TDI VAG product - then certainly yes. The JTD diesels are actually considered ones of the industry's best. But it's hard to beat BMW in reliability IMO.

I am not 100% sure, but I think the 75 V8 predates the first single-frame front grille Audi, which is sort of ironic, considering it was developed partly by BMW.
