What’s the inverse of lipstick on a pig? Mud on a basic bitch?

Speaking of watering down the brand, have you seen the Discovery 5 spy shots?? They’ve turned each of their vehicles into generic jelly bean crossovers and SUVs.

It is a sad day indeed. I don’t have much hope for the next gen with rumors of it being unibody. Have you seen the spy shots for the upcoming Discovery/LR5? Land Rover’s current design language is not at all reverent to the iconic originals.

My favorite was an imported “1980" Land Rover Defender for $20k...

Diesel Wrangler Pickup... at first it sounds like a dream. Then the lift kits, truck nuts, fat pipes... ROLLIN’ COAL Wrangler... The dream is the new nightmare.

The 1-series M appreciated in value. This will too.

Agreed. Considering the 1 Series M is selling for more than this used... I think it’s a fair price.

Drone pilots have one of the crappiest, least appreciated jobs in the Air Force.

Did you also buy the Defender at 2:06 in the video??

My 14 Grand Cherokee has the ability to ‘activate’ the navigation for the tiny sum of $600. I bought a few bottles of scotch instead.

You are actually arguing that education doesn’t make you smarter.

That’s a little too broad of a statement. I was a pilot, had a graduate degree in engineering and worked at the Research Laboratory... all before I was an O-3. I don’t think researching, developing, then deploying multi-million dollar pieces of advanced technology counts as ‘on the job training.’ That’s just my

Oh Boy! Clausewitz! You can’t get into any military or foreign policy debate without the ‘smart’ guy pulling out that 200 years-dead general.

Just the highlight...

Do hipsters have jobs and money to buy bikes?

I own the same Jeep so I know what’s true.

According to these articles, EVERYONE!

I give up... I can’t keep up anymore. I’m all for saving the planet, but I just can’t keep pace with this fervor. There’s about 2 dozen hyperventilating articles on Gizmodo about this everyday. I get it, we’re DOOOOOOOOMED and people are terrible.

Likewise. I think we are in violent agreement! Like you said, the biggest problem with the F-35 illustrates is how much of a mess the acquisition system is. The optimist in me is hoping we learn some lessons for the next one.

I also wore the uniform and actually personally flew for the Air Force (as opposed to a ‘friend’ or ‘relative’). I have an engineering degree, and I spent the rest of my military time in the Air Force Research Lab... you know, to research this stuff.
