Seems like they’re trying to find ways to incentivize people purchasing bits to donate to streamers rather than using PayPal. I don’t really have any issue with it, but think it’s unfortunate to tie themselves to something that’s become as controversial as loot boxes.

Bits all go to the streamer. You have to pay a fee in order to buy them or watch ads to earn them. You can also donate directly to streamers and it doesn’t cost you anything other than the donation but then you wouldn’t get these emotes.

That’s, uh, one way to compare it I guess.

I think the bigger problem is that the adventure seems to be set up so that the characters are mainlanders (ie. whites from fantasy Europe) only in Chult to kill monsters and plunder treasure. You’re essentially reenacting colonialism. There’s very little in the way of content for people who want to play local heroes…
