there were a million think-pieces and blogs about how it was feminist movie of the year and stuff. I feel like a lot of it was women justifying why they enjoyed it because the internal realization it was solely because they found the dudes really hot a bit uncomfortable for what ever reason.

Yeah, if you want to watch it to watch hot dudes dance then do it there is nothing wrong with that but I am so, so, so bored of being told it is a feminist masterpiece. It doesn’t need to be in order to be good and fun, but it really speaks to where corporate/white feminism is that this is their highlight of the year.

I haven’t seen anyone complain about Magic Mike tbh. I just remember reading 1233424 feminist think pieces about why as a WOC I should worship a movie written, starring and directed by white men.
