Why are you adding your own narrative here? He said what he said and clearly he could see how race impacted him. Your erasure of this makes me curious why you cannot let his words just be. It seems like you need to make this narrative one that is comfortable for you.

Jamaica exists only because of white supremacy, slavery and racism. People of African ancestry are not native to that land. So of course your so-called “whitey” can’t wash their hands clean. Neither can the CIA, who wouldn’t leave the fucking place alone to actually try to be independent.  

I don’t know why people assume that because someone is black that it means they are aware of power and privilege. We all live in the soup of white supremacy and all take on as real its fictions about who we are.

I couldn’t event finish the Vanity Fair article. There is no way that I could ever read this book. Tyson’s back could break from bending so far to conjure up sympathy for this evil, murderous white woman. When people of colour have a problem with white people writing their stories, THIS IS WHY!
