If you mean husbands/boyfriends, that’s because they don’t see the problem at the systemic level. They see their female partner paying through the nose for things that should be much cheaper or free & their “solution” when we dare to complain, is to say they can cover the difference if a few dollars more here or there

Do you get your period? It’s one thing to tax something everyone uses at some point in life. It’s another to tax something that only one gender is required to use for the majority of their adult life.

Not to mention teaching both genders a really clear understanding of consent and body autonomy from a very early age.

4 states don’t have sales tax, so there’s no need for a separate law: Delaware, Montana, Oregon and New Hampshire. (Alaska is kind of a fifth—it has no state level sales tax, but it allows cities to impose their own local sales tax, since the cost of importing goods to the remote places varies so much.)

Shout out to Larry Wilmore and the wonderful ladies of The Nightly Show (sob). I’m not going to pretend that their publicizing of this issue got the bill passed, but it was refreshing to see it talked about on network television (is this why he got cancelled?).
