Amen. This whole generation labelling is BS. Everyone has their own experiences. I was born in later‘78, never experienced the 70s. I will be 40 later this year. I was an 80s and 90s kid/teenager. Graduated high school in ‘97. Had internet in my home in the mid-90s. Came of age during Iraq War-9/11 time-2004 election.

you should look up my mad fat diary, its set in the 90s (though Britan not the US) and is really great.

Now playing

It’s out there. Heck, there’s a nice slice of modern alternative rock that has got an “up” to it and isn’t doom and gloom. Check out Wolf Alice and Kitten (who might really be more classically pop than alt-rock, but guitars are so out of pop at this point that Kitten might as well be rock).

I feel like anything set in the 90s is either going to be GRUNGE AND FLANNEL, which has been covered to death, or basically the 90s outside of 92-95, which no one really wants to relive (or is not recognizably 90s enough). Granted, the latter requires quality writing to pull off, so being set in the 90s has to be

In the UK, one of the biggest comedies of the last decade “Derry Girls” just finished it’s first series. It is set in 1994 in Northern Ireland during the Troubles. i think nostalgia has really helped it dwarf ratings of similar shows (like the inbetweeners)

Dazed and Confused actually quenched my contemporaneous 90's nostalgia thirst in 1994.

I have that script sitting in my hands right now; it’s been a passion project of mine for the last seven years. The trouble currently is, 80s and 00s nostalgia has proven to have a return, but unless a 90s piece is about Kurt Cobain and nothing else, no one will read it. I’d love to be the one to make that film for

Lady Bird already satisfied my 2003 nostalgia

The 2000s were pretty miserable all around; I can’t see anyone getting nostalgic for endless reality shows or Nickelback.

Hey Aerostar! Cannon seems like a great dude - he was out here at Denver Con last year, and I had him sign my Absolute Top 10 and bought the first volume of Kaijumax from him. Chatted him up for a bit, and - yeah, seemed like a nice guy. Also - agreed Kinja is the pits.

Hi AM! Good to see you. It’s like wandering around a post apocalyptic world and finding fellow survivors out here.

*Testing testing* Is this thing on?
