For me the most obnoxious thing about grindhouse homages is that the entire Internet adopted the term grindhouse and acted like they had been saying it the whole time and as if they always loved that genre they had never referred to in that way before but was totally how they talked about it their entire lives.

The debt that was Monkeybone can never really be repaid. Or so I've ben told.

I think it's interesting that despite the fact that this is being helmed by Henry Selick, the director of 3 enduring animated cult classics, he's still nearly forced out of the lede to focus on the Russos. It's like the guy can never catch a break when it comes to even basic recognition.

It could just be that Twin Peaks actually isn't for everyone and that's part of the reason it tool nearly 30 years to get a third season. It could also be that people have completely different priorities when it comes to what they like about Lynch's work and what they want to see from it. People not liking Twin Peaks

I've got friends who adore Lynch who can't get past the first 45 minutes of Twin Peaks's pilot. Like super into Mulholland Drive sorta folks who just can't get into TP on any level. The show's just not for everyone.

I've not heard of Elementals either. I wonder how many interesting cape comics there are that I've just not heard of? Even from major names!

They didn't say who it was by. Just that it was about after superheroes have "won" and that I should look for it.

I need all the cool days I can. Gets hot in these transit garages.

I don't think I've even seen the film version of Romy & Michele.

Chill weeks are the best weeks. Have fun this weekend.

I didn't realize AnimeNEXT was next week. I've got the Saint Paul DFL convention next week. Unfortunately that con is wholly uninterested in comics.

I've been told to read something called Pantheon but I haven't found any copies of it yet. Don't know much about DK3 but I am at least mildly interested.

I tried multiple times to get into Twin Peaks but couldn't so I just gave up. If I keep getting filtered out by the pilot then it's obviously not for me. Just as well. I don't think there's anything I'd personally gain from it. I'd have nothing new or insightful to say or be able to process. Cultural osmosis seems

I think the only superhero movies in recent years I haven't seen are Deadpool and X-Men: Apocalypse. I just don't think I can ever care that much about Deadpool. And I'm deeply conflicted about Bryan Singer as a person. Everything else I've seen and appreciate on some level because of my possibly unhealthy

I've not read much with Wonder Woman in it. Any of you mind giving me some recommendations for bests and faves? Underrated and underappreciated stories are most welcome as well.

Heyo!

That's a pretty good comparison now that I think about it.

Structure. He's really good at providing structural support so that the best, or at least the most widely appealing, attributes of the people he works with are able to reach the most people.

Jerry isn't just the comedic punching bag. He's the only person in the family who consistently points out that they live in ridiculous cartoon world and doesn't want to go along with it at all. He's then punished for it. Jerry reflects the cost of recognizing the premise of your own show and then asking everyone to

Frank Grimes can't be competent in a show like Rick & Morty because then the whole show basically turns into a game of oneupmanship between Jerry and Rick. It essentially becomes a grown-up Invader Zim. In order to maintain the dynamic you have to give Grimes an almost Homer-like intelligence and skillset.
