I think Scott McCloud is genuinely great but I've talked to many people who find the self insert stuff to be obnoxious, off-putting and alien. So it would help a lot to know about other books to recommend so they don't have to rely on the top pick for most people.

So I bought my friend those Eisner instructional books about comics. I've never read them myself but they get high marks from pros and layman seem to enjoy that Eisner didn't rely on putting focus on drawing himself talking for a couple of hundred pages.

Heyo!

Mary Andrews used to seem above it all but like anyone else who sets foot in this town, she soon finds herself knee deep in the same shit as everyone else. No wonder she wanted to stay in Chicago.

Heyo!

I actually do not know. I think I have a vote in the Harveys though.

It always seemed to me that the writers strike was what bought Pushing Daisies a second season to begin with. It always feels like we got several extra episodes we wouldn't have because the show was cruising low on ratings and a back order didn't seem to be in the cards.

Mary Andrews doesn't seem to have much of a character yet. She's just kinda "Molly Ringwald is definitely Archie's mom. Don't worry about it".

I never thought of it that way. I pretty much only set comments from oldest to newest. But you make some good points there.

SpringCon/FallCon always seem to attract pretty solid guests. Dan Jurgens apparently makes the trip down here to table pretty often. And Xander Cannon is a frequent attendee as well. Which is what made it feel strange that there's practically no one of note at WW. Not mainstream, indie or self-published. Not even tiny

Despite using it myself I really hate the concept of upvoting. Maybe I should refrain from doing it. Because it's unfair of me to ask something of anyone that I wouldn't do myself. But yeah, I just hate the nasty implications of upvoting and what it's often meant to convey. Just had to say this somewhere. Thought it

I should check this out then. Only other thing I have to look forward to is SpringCon.

That sounds beyond the ken of my understanding but still very interesting. Wish you the best on that. And keep us updated on how it goes, yeah?

That's biennial right?

I'm definitely not giving up. Just acknowledging that I've hit a ceiling. It ain't a wall. I'm not stopping. Just can't get any higher

That's a real shame. But at least there's other shows here. It'd be cool to have a REAL sizable con though.

What's your LCS like? I really like the vibe at mine. Especially since they buy and sell local comics and push them as hard as anything else they sell.

Are they associated with Wizard Magazine or are they they're own thing?

I'd love to meet Capaldi but I don't have that bread. Hopefully there'll be other opportunities. But if not, meh.

Well that sounds exciting. What have you got planned?
