The 22 page thing is a real beast to wrestle. We've mostly discarded it with StarHammer and we just sort of feel it out. But since it's a webcomic we can do things that way.

I've mostly worked with newer folks in the webcomic scene. I can't imagine what it's like to work with legendary artists who've been in the industry for decades.
What was it like to work on something like that?
I think diversity in character requires diversity in authors but on a macro scale. I wouldn't want just black guys writing all the not-white characters anymore than I'd want all white guys doing the same.
Have you tried out r/ComicBookCollabs on reddit? They have some great ways to hook up with artists and other comic talents.
I was hoping for something more within the vein of mundane fantastic. So if Amblin films actually were the way people remember them instead of what they truly tended to be.
I've often wondered if anyone around here does any comic work themselves or if they tend to keep it private and away from the prying eyes of the AV Club comments section.
There was another comic article this week? I must've missed it entirely.
I agree. I just think that this first issue is good for newbies who don't know or care where this sort of things fits in a continuity, which for better or worse, all previous ones in the last few years have to deal with. So while painfully unnecessary for fans it's inviting for more causal audiences and newbies.
Disliked both of those things too. But I think American Alien #1 is actually a pretty decent story by him. The only problem is that it's so hard to remove the idea of Landis from one's mind while reading his work. So I can see how it could easily spoil anything he makes.
Was that ukulele cover by Julia Nunes less of a breakout Youtube hit than I remember it being? I just sort of recall it being the thing that made everyone and their mom consider picking up a ukulele for awhile and post a ton of covers on Youtube.
Trying to find your exact quote but I think you may be right.
Oh yeah. I kinda always forget who made Horton Hears A Who. Thanks for the correction.
Despite not being that into Calvin and Hobbes or Watterson's work I hope people will respect his wishes as well. Which may be difficult because there's a ton of diehard fans who like the work more than they like the man who created it or the voice he gave to it. They can't wait until he dies because it means his…
Illumination is behind those. Same people who make Despicable Me and that Minions stuff.
In the 60s it was actually expected and strongly encouraged. Cartoonists cashing in on their work in any way possible was just how things were done.
For my money Gotham's Gotham is the best live-action depiction of the city to date. It really communicates what the show is about far better than the writing or acting.
I'm one of those weirdos who can't reconcile the way they depict National City throughout the episode. It's just so wildly inconsistent. They can't seem to decide if they want to stick to the fictional geography they've set up so far or actual LA geography and it clashes horribly.
I didn't love Seasons 1 and/or 2 and I seem to go back and forth between enjoying what this show does and just being frustrated by it and the entire MCU in general.
I was never bothered by Roald Dhal books. I think it's just because of the way he wrote.
