It just shows that they’re nationalists, not patriots. Patriots can love their country but recognize its flaws. Patriots want to make their country a better place, which involves admitting it’s not already a perfect place.

I feel like being the child of an addict gives you some insight on how hard that is sometimes and let me tell you “I stayed because of my kids and that was making me unhappy so I drank” is not intended to put the blame on your kids, but it will absolutely have that impact. 

And the kids are miserable too.  Been there, done that, have the therapy bills.

Unfortunately, (under most circumstances) staying in a marriage for “the sake of the kids” just means parents are miserable and kids pick this up.

I’ll echo Yellowfoot. I live in St. Pete and - as YF points out - just like most urban area, the politics of the city proper are very progressive.

Not arguing for or against the reputation of my illustrious hometown, but Tampa —like almost every American city— is pretty solidly Democratic. The bay area as a whole includes a few more gun ranges and meth labs, but it’s still not any more of a Q hotspot than anywhere else these days.

Everyone here are equally awful, so there’s no corner for me to stand in. These people are ruthless and miserable, and I’m loving it.

If you want happiness for the Roy kids, you're missing the point of the show. They'd all be as awful as Logan given the slightest chance.  The only "happy" ending to this show would be them all going to jail or being burnt at the stake. 

If getting ambushed to do a toast were the worst crime against Shiv, she’d be in a much better place.

Boy, Shiv sure did live to regret that toast, huh?
