Ooooh! Did you read my post about why guys should watch Outlander? And about how I can't get guys to watch Outlander? Wait…are you one of them? What are you doing here?!

I don't want to minimized the impact, but I thought the music made the whole affair clearly non-threatening. Like when I have to trim my dog's nails - he screams and cries like I'm murdering him, but ultimately there's no harm done. And NO I am making no human/dog comparisons. Just a similar scenario.
Well said. Though, as if to add weight to Jaime's case, as soon as he administers the punishment, all the clansmen start talking to her again.
That's what makes it such an interesting scenario which causes debate! Or at least, what makes it infuriating. We can see the justification clearly, but we (pardon the general inclusion) also understand that our standards of behavior do not match. They're both wrong and right.
Good to know! I will get to watching. Glad I wasn't the only one who thought Silver was terrible in Season 1 (it wouldn't be so bad if I hadn't read Treasure Island / seen Muppet Treasure Island, and went in knowing what *should* happen).
They're all sitting there on my DVR - I've watched a scattered three over the past couple of months. Tell me this - is Silver any more watchable? I couldn't stand him in Season 1, with all that smug cowardice.
Which really, is an unfortunate turn of events for guys. Think of how many more women they could potentially woo if they admitted to watching Outlander sans coercion! Maybe I've been selling it all wrong - I should be selling it as an educational program ;)
Oops - I think I meant when he says that taking a belt to her was a turn on for him. That was downplayed.
Don't worry - not all of we Christians were brought up to simplify our faith and history into coloring book plates. Easter isn't about blaming - or it shouldn't be, anyway.
Yes. Thank you.
Season 2 of Da Vinci's Demons went completely off the rails and I recommend it for it's madness ( I missed most of the first season)
What if someone chooses to be self-critical? I don't think it's necessarily fair to say that Jewison's decisions stemmed from ignorance. That could be used against any argument. But then, you wanted to rant - I respect that.
My brother and I sing this back and forth to each other every Easter too! Or whenever we feel it's appropriate.
The idea that it's a "romance novel" television is one of the primary reasons I can't get any of my guy friends to watch the show. I find this interesting because goodness knows there are plenty of breasts to admire. But neither mentioning breasts, nor a man dying from being gored to death by a wild boar, has…
True enough - she's not even "on screen" when most things go down, even things she has a hand in creating.
That's a good way of putting it.
His work on "Black Sails" is also very good.
I take the opposite point on the backstory/plot/interior dealings - I thought it was really useful to understand what was going on with the clans. It'll help to support later actions. Jaime's monologuing was rough, but really if it weren't for this episode how many more flash forwards would we get where Claire was…
TCM is playing Ben-Hur. Quick, to your chariot!
While I thought the episode was humorous in parts, Ray's crippling felt really forced to me. They a made a big deal about the speed and what was going to happen, and Ray picks that exact moment - even though he's the pilot - to get out of his chair? It was a funny bit of animation, but I did not care for the…
