Well, I think it's so abrupt that shock is all he can feel. His parents winked out of existence and then it was *scene* / rolling up of creation map.
I remember it looked like duplos
It's because he's clever - he knows about history, which is more than the tree-making thieves do. Also "he's bigger than any of us!"
Rat, anyone? Might be the last meal you ever get!
Winking = adoption?
But he goes away in the fire truck! He winks at him, and then disappears.
You know, I came to conquer Italy because I heard they were all small - I mean they were really tiny guys!
You needed more ladies in your classes - we were really good at it, but in a pretentious, passive aggressive,"So you were trying to recreate Donne here? Maybe it's just me - and if it is, I'll shut up - but I'm not sure your tone really achieves the dynamic between voice and meter that you want…but I love that you use…
"I wouldn't have bothered with butterflies and daffodils! I would have started with LASERS - eight o'clock, day one! *zap* *scream* …sorry."
Self-Sabotage! Yes - I couldn't think of the term. Thanks.
I think it's more like if everyone hates her or her writing, then she can wonder why no one likes her. This will allow her to feel like she's misunderstood…so that she can…continue to act as though her writing matters in the larger scheme of things?
She set herself up as weak - in those precious first impressions, she revealed herself as both needy and proud, and those grad school sharks smelled blood in the water. Also, she arguably doesn't march to her own beat like they do, hence their condescension?
I think the Marnie problem is residual. She's just another artist now, trying something different. Jessa is who she always was, plus or minus a relapse, and garners no sympathy.
They say it, but they still spend time with her. There is no cutoff - like tonight. Adam is right to say he's done, yet Jessa seems to maintain her orbit.
As an on-again/off-again watcher of this series, I've been enjoying these first couple of episodes in Iowa. I empathize with Hannah's not doing her writing when it's the one thing she says she wants to do, but she needs to get over herself and do the work. That's what school is! And Elijah says it best - Hannah…
I think Hannah's take down was great, even as I saw it for the self-destructive loop she gets into. She gets brave of a sort, but then she uses her moments of bravery as reasons to feel victimized.
You are right about the credits - they're what the show should have been: equal parts disturbing and enticing
I felt bad for her - she'd only just been recruited, and was she even there when all the freaks stood up to Dandy?
Her comeuppance was a happily ever after with the people she sort of killed?
