I think an important thing to remember about Civil War is that most of the heroes are fighting their friends, and thus would not want to kill them. This is evidenced by the “you’re pulling your punches” line.

IIRC, the first Alice was the next big 3D movie to come out after Avatar. I’ve always believed that Alice got an Avatar bump due to the novelty of 3D at the time.

For every Paul Feig movie, the trailers have been awful but the movies have been outstanding. I am assuming this is more of the same.
