I love it to bits, but it is a reasonably valid criticism that the show tends to slam on the brakes so that it can impart a lesson to us with the subtlety and finesse of hammering a railroad spike into our heads, yes.

Like, it’s seemingly just an ordinary day in the precinct, then suddenly one of the crew blindsides everyone with a sudden ‘Non-Halloween Halloween’ heist when they’ve apparently all got their guards down. Maybe from the first episode, but ever other appearance with Doug Judy is just catching up with his best buddie (don’t tell Charles that).

1) While I’m not personally anti-Samberg, I get why a lot of people don’t care for him; on that note, I think you’d be surprised at how tolerable he is on B99. And it’s a nicely-balanced ensemble show all-around.

And, is there a laugh track?

In the sense that the writers need to find subtler ways to make their world-view known? 

Rosa and Amy are such a great team. The need more A plots together.

That situation with his animals (particularly the cats) really disturbs me. Cats are clean and finicky. If they pee somewhere other than the litter box, they are communicating to you that something is wrong, and they are distressed.
