If Jews were better at embracing converts and intermarriage (1 in 5 Jews is already a convert!) maybe we’d see intermarriage as spreading the faith rather than diluting it. (I’m a Jew.)

While true that Judaism is a matrilineal religion, “Jews” are also an ethnicity so there’s a component of keeping the ethnicity coherent as well. Those against Jews marrying non-jews also believe that interfaith marriages will lead to children who are less likely to be Jews themselves.
Say it again for the folk in the back.
I know it seems like you are talking specifically about black men who date and fetishize non-black women exclusively while putting down black women. But obviously you mean every single black man that dates or married a white woman deserves side-eye. Why else would all these responses be completely missing the context…
You want black Jesus?
I personally think it’s foolish to conflate dating people of various races to NOT being an advocate for the black community. It feels like an insecurity MOSTLY perpetuated by black women (this is completely anecdotal). Besides folks like Michael on this site, who must come down with an upper respiratory infection or…
No True Scotsman fallacy detected!
I can’t speak about other people’s opinions, but I can say for myself that I absolutely give the stink eye to Black men who want to further Black men only, and talk Black while sleeping white, no matter who they are. I know for a fact about Douglass and Belafonte’s shittiness towards Black women, but I don’t have much…
Which he only did *because* he knew he was dying. If that wasn’t the case he would have voted very differently.
John McCain’s legacy is that he caves as easily as an old mine shaft. Talked big, never followed through.
Thematically, it’s a huge moment. If you go back and watch the movie, there are so many times when the heroes had a chance to permanently disrupt Thanos’ plans, but they didn’t because they were confident that they could beat him without making the tough choices. Not sacrificing Vision, not sacrificing Thor, not…
They couldn’t protect the universe, but they could save it, even from this.
Or, like, the skrulls use the confusion to start replacing people ;)
Once you are saying that the Infinity Stones creates the mutants (not Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch) like the entire purpose of them is lost/ruined. Mutants have to born not created.
I think I’m right with you that this will be undone...but in what way? I’m holding onto the idea that we get our friends back (yes, friends, they feel like more than just characters). But the worst way to do it from a storytelling standpoint is to have it never have happened in the first place. That’s how the original…
Actually, seeing T’Challa go was a huge relief for me. It was what guaranteed that this all would be reversed.
Thanks for sharing this.
I left the Evangelical tradition after the election of 45, when it became clear to me that nobody believed a damn word of the holy book they claimed to be central to their life. Still a Christian, but not Evangelical.
I really appreciate that you took the time to parse out the nuance and complexity evident in Faith’s character. She really is trying to be all things to all people—but I stop short of according her the level of sympathy you’re showing here, for three reasons:
First and foremost, even if she’s now clean, she’s actively…
I definitely bought a ticket to the ‘Dr. Strange gave up the stone so easily because it was the right thing to do to start down the path to victory’ show... He puts up just the right amount of resistance to not be suspicious and his comment about entering the End Game? Yeah, Wizard Steve has a plan.
