India needed to replace it’s older carriers as well. Viraat’s been running for nearly a half century.

the Mikoyan bureau sure like those smaller vertical fins/stablisers under the tail of their jets. I remember reading they first put it to correct balance issues on early Foxbats and carried it over. I wonder how big this jet is in comparison with a Foxbat.

What jet is this if I may ask?

very Eurofighter ish indeed

hahaha, well played.

haha, yeah I guess that’s a different debate right there.

Agreed.

ah good old QI. Those implements were interesting. Kinda makes it more trouble than it’s worth, though I imagine you can’t say for sure till you’ve got a tache like that of your own.

Definitely seen all the beards from soldiers serving in Irag or Afghanistan. That made logical sense. Guess British troops applied the same logic back in the day as well. When Clive Lloyd first came to India I swear all the pictures of him have him clean shaven so yeah maybe the moustache made it’s way from India.

what a true philosopher, the concentration with which he was admiring that glass of water. That’s the sort of left field thinking that wins cups and throws Philip Lahm in midfield.

Today I learned. Never occurred to me there’d be anything of note in the tail.

you heard right. In some cases they do. In fact I believe there are codes in the armed forces about maintaining the correct facial shrubbery (could be anecdotal but definitely remember reading about some obscure tradition about beards in the Royal Navy so wouldn’t be surprised if facial hair rules were an actual thing)

Agreed. France must be right behind the US and Russia in Indian defence suppliers. Got licence built Scorpenes being made (albeit slowly), a history of Dassault jets. Rafale would fit right in. IAF sure does love delta wing jets now that I think about it.

oh. Wonder if it’s functional or aesthetic then

don’t see much of a use for the A-10s in India. I wonder if any future hypothetical conflicts with say Pakistan will involve large tank engagements like the past that the A-10 could be called in to make piecemeal of. Similarly I can’t see where India would use it against a Chinese front.

too many boring stealth black themes in the F1 pits these days, especially with the new updated Mclaren livery

that must be the most interesting analogy I’ve ever read of the Indian procurement dilemna

Okay maybe notched is the wrong word. But compared to a flat top for the tail fin, a lot of Russian jets have that angled tip at the very top of the tail fins. (I’m not sure I can zoom in on an image in Kinja)

That’s such a good point. I was heartbroken when TG ended and then I realised that we won’t be able to see the hypercar trifecta showdown the world has been waiting for. Unless its on their new show on Amazon, in which case that’ll be a kick to the shins for the new TG

I agree. The fleet is already a complete mix, makes service and spares a nightmare. Much more likely to stick with Dassault’s offering especially with the good experience the IAFs had with the Mirage and its performance in the last major conflict. The multi role capability seems so relevant given the shortfall in
