I grew up in the age of school shootings and now I’m a first year teacher. I’m right on the boarder between millennials and gen-z but my sister is squarely in the gen-z camp and the the threat school shootings were a constant theme of growing up.

100% agree. I’m right on the boarder between gen-z and millennials (recently 22) but my younger sister is 18 and firmly in the gen-z camp and we talk about this stuff a lot. We joke and make snide comments because its all way to scary and pressing to look at face value.

I’ve definitely noticed the shift in music my sister and I were saying its almost as if emo has bleed into pop and rap recently. But yeah these songs capture my feelings much more than the overtly sexual songs of my middle school years. More worry less sex sounds about right.
