When a ship is notably in a very public location, there is no more ‘classified’ to it’s location. So why try to hide it? Many times it’s in their best interest to let the opponent know it’s nearby. But when a ship goes dark, I can pretty much guarantee you won’t know where it is.

We’re on the case,
and we’ll chase her through the seven seas...

I tend to agree with you here. And working for the Navy, they make sure to reiterate that fact every year with a stupid, long OPSEC training course.
But then they post on FB every time a carrier or sub comes back into port, or arrives at a foreign port, or is near any sort of point of interest.

Nice! It’s not “Where” is the Carl Vinson, but “When?”

I like that name. The carriers are not in any fixed position until someone gets bombed.

What is this Schrodingers carrier?

Why not both places?

I read that as Carl Carlson.

Where in the World
  - Is -
USS Carl Vinson

lol I read that as the USS Carl Winslow

Indeed. My Ass Rides Around In Navy Equipment.

man mad about editing on a blog, world remains united in resounding response of ‘whatever’

The whole US government is just awful about acronyms.

I don’t think the Navy would like you suggesting they’re a pawn of the Acronym Research and Marketing Yuppies...

im more and more convinced that the entire armed service is just a front for an acronym service.

Because it’s going to be militarized.

Militarized Tunnels, AKA the most passive aggressive thing of all time.

It’s like Miata vs Focus RS.

Not to mention that 15s can cruise about twice as far supersonic as the 16. I kind of think an upgraded “super 15" would be a good complement to the f-22. Didn’t they call it a “silent eagle”?

“ now F-22 has taken that role,””

What is this? An A10 for ants?
