Rick and Morty has stepped up their game this season, and episodes 3 and 4 go a long way to show that Roiland doesn't just like punishing his characters for laughs, but does kind of give a shit about them and legitimate wants them to find some kind of happiness. How about instead for hoping the show somehow recaptures the spirit of what made it great the first two years, we accept the fate that, like all Showtime programs, it's become garbage?

Remember last year when the midseason episode was the first major time-jump for the show, and it's easily one of its best hours next to The Fight? There was no terrible credits sequence, Betty's jokes were actually funny, and the drama of keeping the clinic and the project alive were real.
