I’ve posted recently about my search for something more fun than the Cayman S, which left me wanting for excitement everywhere but the track. After a few test drives I settled on an FR-S and thought I’d share some initial impressions after a 1,000 mile drive from Houston to St. Petersburg, 14 days of ownership and 1…
Step 1 in my search to replace the Cayman S was completed today. Drove an FR-S. Damn what a car.
After an exhaustive search that I documented here on Oppo to choose my Cayman S a year ago , sadly I find the car,,,,,,, well,,,,,,, a little boring.
Curious what your GoPro video settings are for recording AutoX. My first rodeo with both and I could use some pointers.
So I went to my first AutoX event last weekend. It was a great time, mostly because the FAST organization running it and the people were awesome. I was in the first run group which was unfortunate because I learned so much watching while working the course. I rode with a guy before I went out who had a 2004 Boxster…
The decision by Porsche to use the push/pull buttons that are both the least intuitive mechanical apparatus I can recall and the source of metric tons of joy kill for new Porsche owners, will go down in the annals of Porsche history as a huge swing and miss up there with the IMS issue and 996 interior.
So I finally pulled the trigger and bought a '09 Cayman S w/PDK after test driving damn near everything as many of you followed along and read. I received the car last Tue, had it inspected on Thu and took it to Sebring on Sun.
Spotted a red Audi TTS in the parking garage last night and was totally drooling over the look of the car. It probably deserves more love than it gets honestly. I looked and noticed that the performance lags a little behind it's competitors in specs and on the track, but it fills a unique niche.
I went on one last round of test drives to finalize my thoughts on each car and I'm glad I did as my perceptions changed on each of them from the previous test drives. I've made my decision.
After getting an amazing amount of help today through suggestions from my fellow Oppos in thinking of possible cars that could be my next "one car to rule them all" and tackle being a DD, AutoX, track day and road trip steed I decided to go commence the test driving.
Yesterday's article on best track cars for the money got everyone's attention in one way or another and left me with some doubts about what I'm buying next so I thought this would be a fun post.
Like the title says, I am curious where the Tampa area Oppos go to track days.
Finally got back into town to test drive a Cayman S to compare to the BMW Z4 M I test drove 2 weeks ago.
As some of you know I've been debating between a half dozen cars and (I think) I've narrowed it down to the BMW Z4 M Coupe and the Cayman S. There isn't an M Coupe near me so I thought I'd try a 2008 Z4 M Roadster in black on black with every option that was close enough and caught my eye.
Spotted a couple of notable cars on the way to and from a few test drives this weekend. Thought I'd share.
BMW Z4M Coupe or Porsche Cayman S.
Had no idea he even had this. A buddy of mine from a golf league I found out today has a F430, 1991 911 Turbo S and a Viper GTS.
Selling my wife's MINI Cooper Convertible to get her another convertible that can hold 4 people humanely. Listed it last night and got the first call this morning. No sweat.
Rented an '08 C4S (6 speed) over the weekend and thought I'd post a quick review. To set the stage I should say that while I've driven most of the most popular sports cars and owned an embarrassing number of them too; I've never driven a Porsche until this weekend. Like many others I have always been, shall we say,…
Thought it might be cool to start reviewing any day or 1/2 day drives that are of note that we take. I try to go on a day drive every trip I make and will start reviewing them for other's who may be interested in planning a drive when they visit the same town. Hopefully others will join in so we build a library of…
