Thank you, I’m rather attached to it myself ;)

Yes, and someone brought up in the comments on the other post that Dessen’s books themselves are super white. I think there’s a lot to be said about that in particular, given that Dessen is decrying someone calling her books “fine for teen girls” when the audience for those books is very likely all white teen girls…
Did you get around to reading anything about the Safran Froer emails? Vox has a good summary here.
Truly, the person who compared this to Larry Nassar’s systematic abuse of girls and women needs to get a hold of themselves. That they thought one very successful woman’s bruised ego was equivalent to the pain caused to tens of women who were sexually assaulted multiple times is incredibly insulting to his victims.
Yes, that’s exactly my take on her too.
AHH I loved The Westing Game as a kid! Turtle was so great.
I’ve had Kerrygold! I actually lived in the UK for a while and Kerrygold was obviously very popular/easily available there. I’m still partial to Land-O-Lakes, probably because it’s what I was raised on.
Honestly I somehow get Franzen and Safran Froer mixed up sometimes, which makes sense, they’re both enormous assholes. I’ll never get over Safran Froer leaving his wife because Natalie Portman deigned to write him like, a single email.
I finally got my hands on that this year, my old supermarket didn’t carry it. It’s life-changing.
PSHHHH I’ve had Kerrygold. Not a super big fan of it, but it is a superior butter in terms of what you can buy in the UK.
Yeah, I don’t know how to break this to you but I graduated from university less than five years ago. Our version of the common read picked novels only from the Booker long list, and did a lecture with the author to match, which was, you know, sold on the fact that they were long-listed for the prize.
Land-O-Lakes? NOT MY PREFERRED SPREADABLE BUTTER!
Apparently also who’s currently judging The Voice, too. That’s three of them now.
since my current lust object isn’t even a real person.
RIP
YES HE DOES!
Oh man are you missing some essential Franzen reading: the funniest piece you will ever read.
I think I read total, like 2.5 books of hers in both the Mortal Instruments and the Infernal Devices series as a teen. Eventually I just Could Not with the faux-incest plot and went ‘okay no more of this’.
