For me it was my father telling me that I needed to generalize my education more in high school instead of focusing on what I enjoyed and was good at. I'd always been good at art, enjoyed it, and knew from a very young age that I would be pursuing a career in the arts.
I love the High Line and used to work in the area. It does get incredibly crowded on nice days (just like any other park in NYC). I've found it incredibly enjoyable to go on overcast, or even drizzly days though.
