We did this when I was a kid back in '93. Known as the March Superstorm of 1993 (By Pensacola, FL standards- it was a Blizzard! we got accumulations between 3-6"!) I'll chime in on this one.. My sister has 3 great danes. One of which has had about 4-5 " of her tail removed. Not for aesthetic purposes, but the dog has no feeling in her tail and has broken it 3 times. Once is got really infected cause she kept chewing at it. Some breeds tails are just too long sometimes.

The ping time would be about 2.6 secs I believe.
