I think the only saving grace here is that the victim was asleep and did not hear this response from the police.

That would indeed have been nice, because it underscores exactly why a lot of victims don’t report these kinds of crimes, allowing the groomers to keep right on doing it.
I absolutely agree with that. If it didn’t warrant an immediate response, it didn’t warrant waking people up at midnight.
As a teacher I am (rightfully) a mandated reporter if I see or receive any evidence of abuse/assault. An 11-yr old self-reporting sending nudes to an online predator? I’d lose my job and face potential charges for ignoring it.
“She’s creating it, right?” the officer prompts, to which the father responds by repeating the girl’s age.
I spent 3 years working with the DA’s office in the victim’s advocacy office specializing in responding to sex crimes. In this case I honestly don’t know who the father should have contacted. I imagine that he had just figured this out and called 911 in his righteous outrage, but the article doesn’t say. Obviously in…
If we defund the police, who’ll show up six hours after they’re needed, fill shit out on a clipboard, and never follow up?
I wonder if these two cops are also School Resource Officers. The way they seemed to light up when talking about terrorizing children tells me that’s a pretty good shot.

Exhausted from victim blaming all day? Try a crisp refreshing Sprite!
Thank goodness they’re here to teach kids the important lesson that if a grown man asks you for nudes, the real criminal in that situation is you.
Ohio is having a tough time. First Gym Jordan trying to be a politician while his lips are planted remora like on Trumps ass and now these two Barney Fife boneheads.
Not surprising. The laws should be rewritten to not punish kids the same if they are only taking pictures of themselves.
While referring the case to CPS for them to do an investigation.
Next big cop funeral I want to hang a banner that says “cop lives have limited value” for the cops that hit a Seattle woman and then said that.
I find it telling that they were taking this so seriously that their conversation didn’t center around kicking the call up to the Sexual Assault Unit.
“Yes officer. I did call you to arrest my eleven year old child. You do have a firm grasp on the situation. Well done. Go enjoy a crisp beverage. You deserve it.” — the answer they expected
Obviously any clueless idiot can become a cop so firing these two cruel dummies would be no loss and actually might provide a cautionary tale for the less dense cops out there.
I don’t really care if they were talking about soda before the guy answered the door. That said, yeah, it’s awful that the only response the police seemed to have was “what can we charge this child with”. It’s hard to imagine a better way to ensure that the actual perpetrator would never face justice.
