So glad to see this place is back! For me, it was just the right combination of sex/celebrity/politics to keep me informed without hitting 17 different American sites. I didn’t realize how much I relied upon it until it went away. (Hmmm...someone should make a song about that.)

I’m happy for all of you and happy for me. I’ve been checking the site daily both out of habit and “just in case”. The other day it looked different and I got so excited thinking you were back!

Hey there!

My sincere hope is the site is not just back but returns to some of the former quality and insight that made it a an outsized-pop culture staple. Frankly the site had been in decline for years before its shuttering. I don’t mean to shit on you or any other writers who, I gather, have been working under less-than-ideal…

And so is the comment section! Hurray!

First RBG and now Feinstein. Girlbossing our way straight into fascism!

No one is trying to force Feinstein to retire. They are loudly pleading with her to do the right thing and retire, or if she is incapable of making that decision (as seems likely), for the people surrounding her to be honest about it so that California can have a badly-needed senator.

Not a single ruling would have been different if RBG retired during Obama. I don’t know why people continue to think anything would have changed when that is objectively not true.

Does Pelosi have a greater responsibility to the country, or to her friend? Because if she decides she owes more loyalty to Feinstein than to the people of California and the United States of America in general, then she is also unfit for office.

“Which is more important, Feinstein’s dignity/legacy, or getting shit done for the other 331.89 million people in the country?”

Right, there is no realistic sense that her capacity will increase. Fetterman is a poor point of comparison, because mental health outcomes for a 53-year-old aren’t as intractable as age-related cognitive decline in an 89-year-old.

If Feinstein were to ask to be removed PERMENANTLY rather than on a temporary basis, the process would have to move forward. The hold-up comes from the cloudy response to when her return is to be expected. And no one wants to get into the nebulous zone of Election Season where they think no business should be…

None of them are going to vote to push her out because they are want to die in those chairs.

And fuck Gillibrand. 

We believe that a Senator should be able to make their own judgments about when they’re retiring and when they’re not, and they all deserve a chance to get better and come back to work.
