Oh, I don’t think it’s a terribly radical idea, and the near future is not just the next few years, but I suspect in 20 years or so...

Pragmatically speaking, if all vehicles were autonomous they could achieve great efficiency with our current infrastructure.

This presumes that people will still be driving in the near future.
