Yup, cast iron works best. Get it nice and hot just like a grill, give it a couple of three minutes on each side and then plate it, tent it with foil and let it rest at least 5 minutes - pretty much perfect medium rare.

I believe so. He can't stand overcooked meat, so he's off to a good start. He had to cook it stovetop bc we have no outdoor space. He's going to LOVE grilling.
